CAPTAIN, USN (RET) PETER J. SCIABARRA, Ph.D.

  • CO of the Navy's largest operational  helicopter squadron

  • 11 years as a Senior Executive at Vistage

Pete Sciabarra was born and raised in New York City. He graduated from Xavier High School in lower Manhattan and is a member of the United States Naval Academy Class of 1981. Pete served 27years on  active duty in the Navy as a helicopter pilot logging over 3300 flight hours in fixed and rotary wing aircraft. He was selected for significant leadership positions including Commanding Officer of Helicopter Combat Support Squadron ELEVEN; Air Boss on USS BOXER (LHD-4); Executive Officer of Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center, and finally, as XO of the amphibious assault ship USS PELELIU (LHA-5). Military Awards include: The Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (5 awards) and Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards) as well as numerous campaign and service awards.
 

Upon retiring in April 2008, he commenced a civilian executive career at Vistage, the world’s leading CEO membership organization. He served eight years as Vice President of National Field Operations and three years as the Regional Executive of the Southwest Region.


Retiring again in 2019, Pete served briefly as a Senior Business Coach with Amazon Logistics as well as an independent coach and advisor to CEOs and their executive teams. Most recently he served as the Senior Director at The Arc of San Diego, the largest provider of disability services in San Diego, securing over 500 job opportunities for the disabled community. Away from work he is a life-long ice hockey player, a USA Hockey certified Coach and the Head Hockey Coach at Cathedral Catholic High School.


Pete holds an MS in Global Leadership as well as an earned Ph.D. in Leadership and Education, both from the University of San Diego.
