MARCY LEVY SHANKMAN, PHD

Marcy Levy Shankman, Ph.D. is a leadership development professional with over 20 years of experience working with individuals, groups, teams, and organizations. As founder and owner of MLS Consulting, LLC, Marcy is committed to helping individuals and organizations leverage their strengths and increase their impact. Working with clients to drive positive change, Marcy does this through designing and delivering powerful learning experiences through consulting, coaching, training, and facilitation services. She has worked with a wide range of organizations from large corporations like Microsoft and Owens Corning to higher education institutions like Dartmouth College and Cuyahoga Community College to non-profit organizations like the Cleveland Foundation and First Tee Cleveland.

Marcy co-authored Emotionally Intelligent Leadership: A Guide for Students (2008, 2015) and its corresponding suite of companion resources, and she continues to write articles and book chapters on the topic. In 2022 she co-edited a monograph on the effective and ethical use of leadership assessments. She recently taught graduate level courses on non-profit administration and leadership in the non-profit sector.

 

From 2016-2023, Marcy worked for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, first as Executive Leadership Coach and Organizational Development Strategist then as the Chief Organizational Learning Officer. Prior to the District, Marcy was the Vice President of Strategy and Director of Leadership Cleveland for the Cleveland Leadership Center.

In addition to a Bachelor of Arts from the College of William and Mary and a Master of Arts from the University of Maryland at College Park, Marcy earned her Ph.D. from Indiana University in higher education administration in 2001.

 

Marcy is an active volunteer and enjoys traveling, gardening, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
